Local municipal councilors were not informed about their mayor's participation in the overseas journey. The trip has drawn attention due to the presence of Haščák, a businessman who has been linked to various corruption investigations in Slovakia. Fico, who leads the ruling Smer-SD party, has faced criticism for maintaining relationships with figures connected to past scandals.
