Slovak PM Fico to Raise Military Aid Compensation Issue at European Summit

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico plans to address the issue of reimbursement for military equipment donated to Ukraine at an upcoming European summit, seeking direct discussions with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Speaking after the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tivat, Montenegro, Fico warned of an acute shortage of resources in this area, claiming that funds designated for reimbursing donor countries had been redirected to direct aid for Ukraine instead. The compensation mechanism was designed to help EU member states recover costs for military equipment provided to Ukraine as part of the bloc's support for the country's defense against Russia's invasion.
