Autism diagnoses in Slovakia rise due to better awareness and improved diagnostic methods
Share:
The number of people diagnosed with autism in Slovakia increased by several hundred last year, according to data from Všeobecná zdravotná poisťovňa, the country's largest health insurance company. The rise in diagnoses is attributed to greater public awareness about autism and improvements in diagnostic procedures rather than an actual increase in the prevalence of the condition. The insurance company, which covers the majority of Slovak citizens, tracks such medical statistics as part of its healthcare coverage responsibilities.
