Russian Opposition Figure Ilya Yashin Establishes New Political Party in Berlin

Russian opposition activist Ilya Yashin founded a new political party at a founding congress that began Friday in Berlin. The party will be called "Peaceful Russia" after delegates supported this name over Yashin's original proposal of "Peace Forces of Russia." Yashin is among several prominent Russian opposition figures who have been forced to operate from exile as the Kremlin has intensified its crackdown on dissent following the invasion of Ukraine.
