New Hungarian Government Moves to Cancel Withdrawal from International Criminal Court

Share:

Hungary's new government under Prime Minister Péter Magyar has submitted legislation to parliament to prevent the country's withdrawal from the International Criminal Court in The Hague. The withdrawal process was initiated by the previous government led by Viktor Orbán. The new administration is taking decisive steps to reverse controversial decisions made by its predecessor, signaling a significant shift in Hungary's international legal commitments. The International Criminal Court is the world's permanent war crimes tribunal that investigates and prosecutes individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes when national courts are unable or unwilling to do so.
