The International Maritime Organization is preparing plans to evacuate thousands of sailors and ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz due to escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States. According to the organization, approximately 20,000 sailors and nearly 2,000 vessels are currently trapped in the region. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime chokepoint connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman, through which roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments pass daily, making it strategically vital for international trade and energy supplies.
