EU experts discuss future of deposit return systems at Bratislava conference

European Union experts gathered in Bratislava to discuss the future development of deposit return systems for beverage containers. The conference attracted approximately 120 participants from 26 countries, bringing together specialists to exchange knowledge and best practices on these environmental recycling programs. Deposit return systems, which charge consumers a small fee for beverage containers that is refunded when the container is returned for recycling, have become increasingly important tools in EU environmental policy as the bloc seeks to reduce waste and increase recycling rates across member states.
